Shloka 6.117.26

सीतासमीपगमनम् / Sītā Brought Near to Rāma (Public Witness and Protocol)

किमर्थंमामनादृत्यक्लिश्यतेऽयंत्वयाजनः ।निवर्तयैनमुद्योगंजनोऽयंस्वजनोमम ।।।।

kim arthaṃ mām anādṛtya kliśyate 'yaṃ tvayā janaḥ |

nivartayainam udyogaṃ jano 'yaṃ sva-jano mama ||

“For what reason is this people being made to suffer, disregarding me? Put an end to this commotion—these are my own people.”

"Why are these people being troubled without disregard for me? Stop this excitement. They are my own people."

Dharma of rulership: one must not trouble dependents unnecessarily; authority must be exercised with compassion and accountability.

Rāma objects to the harsh dispersal of the gathered forces and instructs Vibhīṣaṇa to stop it.
