जानक्या परुषं वाक्यमेवमुक्तो दशाननः।।।।जज्वाल सहसा कोपाच्चितास्थ इव पावकः।
jānakyā paruṣaṃ vākyam evam ukto daśānanaḥ |
jajvāla sahasā kopāc citāstha iva pāvakaḥ ||
Thus addressed with harsh words by Jānakī, the ten-headed one suddenly flared up with anger, like fire blazing on a funeral pyre.
"Thus addressed harshly by Janaki, the ten-headed Ravana blazed up in anger suddenly like the flame of the funeral pyre.
Unchecked anger is a mark of adharma: when ego is challenged, the unrighteous respond with rage rather than reflection and restraint.
After Sītā’s sharp condemnation, Rāvaṇa’s fury erupts, escalating the tension of the confrontation.
By contrast, Sītā’s fearlessness in truthful speech stands out; Rāvaṇa’s vice is krodha (anger) fueled by wounded pride.
