लङ्कादाहः — The Burning of Lanka (Catuḥpañcāśaḥ Sargaḥ)
वज्रविद्रुमवैदूर्यमुक्तारजतसंहितान्।विचित्रान्भवनाद्धातून् स्यन्दमानान्ददर्श सः।।।।
vajra-vidruma-vaidūrya-muktā-rajata-saṃhitān | vicitrān bhavanād dhātūn syandamānān dadarśa saḥ ||
He saw from the burning mansions streams of molten minerals—variegated and mingled with diamond, coral, vaidūrya gems, pearls, and silver—oozing and dripping down.
Hanuman saw many colourful molten minerals mixed with diamonds, corals vaiduryas, pearls and silver flowing (dropping) from every mansion.
It teaches vairāgya (detachment): immense wealth and ornamentation cannot protect a society founded on adharma. Dharma, not opulence, is the true safeguard.
As Laṅkā burns, precious materials in the mansions melt and flow out. Hanumān witnesses the city’s luxury turning into molten streams under the fire.
Hanumān’s steadiness and clarity of purpose: even amid astonishing sights of wealth and destruction, he remains focused on the mission and observes without being tempted.
