अभिज्ञानमणि-प्रदानम् — The Signet Jewel as Proof and the Consolation of Sita

यदि वा मन्यसे वीर वसैकाहमरिन्दम।कस्मिंश्चित्संवृते देशे विश्रान्तःश्वो गमिष्यसि।।।।

yadi vā manyase vīra vasaikāham arindama | kasmiṃścit saṃvṛte deśe viśrāntaḥ śvo gamiṣyasi ||

O hero, destroyer of enemies—if you think it best, stay here for a single day in some enclosed, hidden place; once rested, you may depart tomorrow.

"O destroyer of enemies! if you think of halting for a day you may do so in a solitary location and leave tomorrow.

S
Sītā
H
Hanumān

Dharma here is prudent action guided by compassion: Sītā suggests a safe, concealed halt so that Hanumān can act effectively without needless risk.

After meeting Hanumān in Laṅkā, Sītā speaks intimately of her distress and asks him to consider staying briefly in a hidden place before leaving.

Practical wisdom (nīti) joined with care for another’s safety—Sītā thinks of Hanumān’s welfare even in her own suffering.
