अभिज्ञानमणि-प्रदानम् — The Signet Jewel as Proof and the Consolation of Sita
तस्य तद्वचनं श्रुत्वा सम्यक्सत्यं सुभाषितम्।जानकी बहुमेनेऽथ वचनं चेदमब्रवीत्।।।।
tasya tad-vacanaṃ śrutvā samyak satyaṃ subhāṣitam | jānakī bahu mene 'tha vacanaṃ cedam abravīt ||
Hearing his words—well-spoken, truthful, and fitting—Jānakī esteemed them greatly, and then spoke these words.
On hearing the truthful, proper, pleasing words by Hanuman whom she held in great esteem, Sita said this:
Dharma is satya and subhāṣita (truthful, well-formed speech): words that are true and appropriate deserve honor and become a moral support in crisis.
After Hanumān’s assurances, Sītā recognizes the truth and propriety of his speech and prepares to respond.
Sītā’s discernment and respect for truth—she values speech that is both comforting and ethically sound.
