अभिज्ञानप्रदानम् — The Token of Recognition (Chūḍāmaṇi) and the Crow Episode Recalled
सिंहस्कन्धो महाबाहुर्मनस्वी प्रियदर्शिनः।पितृवद्वर्तते रामे मातृवन्मां समाचरन्।।5.38.60।।
siṃhaskandho mahābāhur manasvī priyadarśinaḥ |
pitṛvad vartate rāme mātṛvan māṃ samācaran ||5.38.60||
Lakṣmaṇa—lion-shouldered, strong-armed, high-minded, and fair to behold—serves Rāma as one would a father, and treats me as one would one’s own mother.
"Lakshmana, who has lion-shoulders and strong arms, who is handsome, who takes Rama as his father and treats me as his own mother.
Maryādā within family and service: honoring elders and maintaining proper relationships—serving one’s elder like a parent and protecting the dignity of family bonds.
Sītā describes Lakṣmaṇa’s character to Hanumān while sending messages about Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa.
