रामलक्षणवर्णनम् (Description of Rama and Lakshmana; Alliance Narrative to Sita)
एवं विश्वासिता सीता हेतुभिश्शोककर्शिता।उपपन्नैरभिज्ञानैर्दूतं तमवगच्छति।।।।
evaṃ viśvāsitā sītā hetubhiḥ śokakarśitā | upapannair abhijñānair dūtaṃ tam avagacchati ||
Thus Sita, worn down by grief, was brought to trust by sound reasons and fitting tokens of recognition; she understood him to be an authentic messenger.
The grief-stricken Sita trusted him by his logical presentation of reasons as well as identifications. She believed that he was a messenger (of Rama).
Dharma values truth tested by evidence: trust should be grounded in proper reasons (hetu) and valid recognition (abhijñāna), especially in situations of danger and deception.
The narration confirms that Sita, despite her grief, becomes convinced of Hanuman’s authenticity through logical grounds and identifying proofs.
Sita’s discernment and steadiness: even in sorrow she accepts only what is supported by credible signs.
