रामलक्षणवर्णनम् (Description of Rama and Lakshmana; Alliance Narrative to Sita)
काननानि सुरम्याणि नदीः प्रस्रवणानि च।चरन्न रतिमाप्नोति त्वामपश्यन्नृपात्मजे।।।।
kānanāni suramyāṇi nadīḥ prasravaṇāni ca | caran na ratim āpnoti tvām apaśyan nṛpātmaje ||
O princess, though he roams through most beautiful forests, rivers, and streams, he finds no joy, for he cannot see you.
"Oh princess! unable to see you, Rama has found no joy in roaming delightful forests, rivers and streams.
Single-minded commitment to rightful duty: Rama does not seek pleasure while the dharmic task—recovering Sita—remains unfinished.
Hanuman tells Sita that even nature’s beauty cannot console Rama in her absence.
Rama’s focus and fidelity—his joy is bound to righteous reunion, not mere sensory delight.
