हनूमत्सीतासंवादः (Hanumān–Sītā Dialogue and Identity Verification)
का त्वं भवसि कल्याणि त्वमनिन्दितलोचने।कोपाद्वा यदि वा मोहाद्भर्तारमसितेक्षणे।।।।वसिष्ठं कोपयित्वा त्वं नासि कल्याण्यरुन्धती।
kā tvaṃ bhavasi kalyāṇi tvam anindita-locane |
kōpād vā yadi vā mohād bhartāram asitekṣaṇe ||
vasiṣṭhaṃ kopayitvā tvaṃ nāsi kalyāṇy arundhatī |
O auspicious one, O blameless-eyed lady—who are you? O dark-eyed one, did you, out of anger or delusion, offend your husband? O blessed lady, are you not Arundhatī, displaced for angering Vasiṣṭha?
"O lady of lovely black eyes! who are you? Have you by any chance offended your husband out of anger or out of delusion? Are you the auspicious Arundhati dislodged for making your lord Vasistha angry?
The verse invokes the ideal of marital fidelity and restraint of anger/delusion, using Arundhatī as a cultural emblem of steadfast dharma; it also shows how dharma-language can be misused as manipulation.
Sītā is being addressed by an intruder (Rāvaṇa’s party/approach), who tries to unsettle her by questioning her identity and implying moral fault.
By contrast and implication, Sītā’s steadfastness and moral clarity (satya and dharma) are highlighted against attempts to provoke fear and self-doubt.
