सीताविलापः — Sita’s Lament and Prophecy of Lanka’s Ruin
धन्या देवास्सगन्धर्वाः सिद्धाश्च परमर्षयः।।।।मम पश्यन्ति ये नाथं रामं राजीवलोचनम्।
rākṣasīvaśam āpannā bhartsyamānā sudāruṇam |
cintayantī suduḥkhārtā nāhaṃ jīvitum utsahe ||
Fallen under the power of the rākṣasīs, harshly threatened, and consumed by anxious thoughts in overwhelming sorrow, I no longer have the will to live.
"Blessed are the gods, gandharvas, and siddhas and great sages who are able to see my lotus-eyed lord Rama.
The verse exposes the violence of adharma: intimidation and unlawful captivity crush the spirit of the righteous, underscoring why dharma demands protection of the vulnerable.
Sītā is guarded and threatened by demonesses in Laṅkā and expresses despair at her continued suffering.
Even in despair, Sītā’s integrity remains intact; her suffering highlights her steadfast refusal to accept unrighteous compromise.
