सीताव्यथा-वर्णनम् / Sītā’s Distress and Rāvaṇa’s Attempt at Coercive Allurement
वृत्तशीलकुले जातामाचारवति धार्मिके।पुनःसंस्कारमापन्नां जातामिव च दुष्कुले।।।।
vṛttaśīlakule jātāmācāravati dhārmike | punaḥsaṃskāramāpannāṃ jātāmiva ca duṣkule ||
Though born into a righteous family of good conduct and character, she, lacking adornment, appeared as if of low birth, as though her condition had been altered.
Though born in a traditional righteous and virtuous family, she was as though passing through a purificatory process like a low-bred woman.
The comparison highlights the stark contrast between her high birth and her current wretched physical appearance. Deprived of royal adornments and grooming while in captivity, she looks destitute, masking her inner nobility.
