He saw buffalo-meat and fish prepared in various ways, and goats set out ready to be eaten—along with many kinds of lickable delicacies, assorted drinks, and diverse solid foods.

He saw several kinds of (nonvegetarian) food like cooked meat of fowls, ruddy geese, buffaloes, goats, fishes as well as food for licking. (Food is of four kinds 1) भक्ष्य which can be chewed 2) भोज्य ordinary solid, semisolid food which can be consumed 3) लेह्य food for licking 4) चोष्य liquid food (which can be sipped)).

The verse supports the ethical contrast being built in the episode: worldly indulgence and luxury are observed objectively, but Hanumān’s mission remains dharma-driven—searching for Sītā and assessing truthfully what he sees without being distracted.

While moving through Laṅkā’s inner quarters, Hanumān surveys the banquet hall and notes the variety of foods and drinks left out, as part of his careful reconnaissance.

Hanumān’s steadiness and discernment: he observes details accurately (useful for his mission) yet remains inwardly detached from temptation.
