रावणान्तःपुरे शयनदर्शनम् (Hanumān Observes Rāvaṇa’s Inner Apartments and Sleeping Court)

डिण्डिमं परिगृह्यान्या तथैवासक्तडिण्डिमा।प्रसुप्ता तरुणं वत्समुपगूह्येव भामिनी।।।।

ḍiṇḍimaṃ parigṛhyānyā tathaivāsakta-ḍiṇḍimā |

prasuptā taruṇaṃ vatsam upagūhyeva bhāminī ||

Another woman, still clinging in the same way to her ḍiṇḍima-drum, slept soundly, like a mother embracing her young calf.

One lovely woman and another held a drum and slept as if they were hugging their young child.

calf (vatsa)

The ethical lesson remains implicit: dharma calls for disciplined awareness in morally complex spaces; Hanumān’s truthful intent prevents him from misreading or exploiting what he sees.

Hanumān continues noting the sleeping women; one holds her drum with the tenderness of a mother embracing a young one.

Respectfulness and restraint (maryādā, saṃyama) in Hanumān’s conduct as an envoy.
