समुद्रलङ्घनारम्भः — Commencement of the Ocean-Crossing

इति कृत्वा मतिं साध्वींसमुद्र श्छन्नमम्भसि।।।।हिरण्यनाभं मैनाकमुवाच गिरिसत्तमम्।

iti kṛtvā matiṃ sādhvīṃ samudraś channam ambhasi | hiraṇyanābhaṃ mainākam uvāca girisattamam ||

Having thus formed a wholesome resolve, the Ocean—hidden within the waters—spoke to Maināka, the excellent mountain with a golden peak.

Having resolved in his mind, the Sea-god addressed the noble, golden mount Mainaka, hidden in the sea:

S
Samudra (Ocean)
M
Maināka (mountain)

Dharma begins with right resolve (sādhvī mati): good action is preceded by a conscious, righteous intention to support a noble cause.

The Sea-god decides to assist Hanumān and initiates action by addressing the submerged mountain Maināka.

Prudent initiative: Samudra not only wishes well but takes concrete steps to help.
