समुद्रलङ्घनारम्भः — Commencement of the Ocean-Crossing
त्वमिहासुरसंघानां पातालतलवासिनाम्।।।।देवराज्ञा गिरिश्रेष्ठ परिघः सन्निवेशितः।
tvam iha āsurasaṅghānāṃ pātālatalavāsinām | devarājñā giriśreṣṭha parighaḥ sanniveśitaḥ ||
O foremost of mountains, Indra, king of the gods, has stationed you here as a barrier against the hosts of asuras who dwell in the nether regions of Pātāla.
'O foremost mountain! you are kept here by Indra, lord of the gods as a barrier againstthe intrusion of demons residing in the nether-world.
Guardianship of order: beings are assigned duties to restrain harmful forces and protect the world’s balance.
Samudra reminds Maināka of his divinely appointed role as a defensive barrier against netherworld asuras.
