समुद्रलङ्घनारम्भः — Commencement of the Ocean-Crossing

तस्य लाङ्गूलमाविद्धमात्तवेगस्य पृष्ठतः।ददृशे गरुडेनेव ह्रियमाणो महोरगः।।।।

tasya lāṅgūlam āviddham āttavegasya pṛṣṭhataḥ | dadṛśe garuḍeneva hriyamāṇo mahoragaḥ ||

Behind him, as he gathered full speed, his tail—curled and lifted—appeared like a mighty serpent being borne away by Garuḍa.

Hanuman had the tail curled at his back which appeared like a big serpent being carried off by Garuda.

H
Hanumān
G
Garuḍa (by simile)
G
Great serpent (mahoraga, by simile)
T
Tail (lāṅgūla)

Dharma is steadfast forward movement once duty is known—Hanumān “gathers speed” toward service, not wavering in truth-bound resolve.

Hanumān’s body language and momentum are described as he transitions from preparation into the act of leaping.

Udyama (energetic effort): the verse highlights decisive acceleration toward a difficult righteous undertaking.
