समुद्रलङ्घनारम्भः — Commencement of the Ocean-Crossing

अस्मिन्नेवंगते कार्ये सागरस्य ममैव च।प्रीतिं प्रीतमनाः कर्तुं त्वमर्हसि महाकपे।।।।

asminn evaṃgate kārye sāgarasya mamaiva ca |

prītiṃ prītamanāḥ kartuṃ tvam arhasi mahākape ||

O great monkey, since matters have come to this point, you ought—glad at heart—to grant satisfaction to both the Ocean and to me as well.

"O great monkey! when I hold you so high, you ought to oblige me and the (god of the) ocean whole-heartedly (and accept our hospitalty).

M
Maināka
H
Hanuman
S
Sāgara (Ocean)

Dharma here is reciprocity and courteous acceptance: when sincere goodwill is offered (by Maināka and the Ocean), one should respond in a way that honors the offer without arrogance.

Maināka requests Hanuman to accept and reciprocate the hospitality meant to please both Maināka and the Ocean during Hanuman’s sea-crossing.

Maināka’s generosity and respect toward a guest engaged in a sacred mission.
