Shloka 4.8.7

मैत्रीप्रतिज्ञा-वैरकारणप्रश्नः (Friendship Vow and Inquiry into the Cause of Enmity)

रजतं वा सुवर्णं वा वस्त्राण्याभरणानि च।अविभक्तानि साधूनामवगच्छन्ति साधवः।।

rajataṃ vā suvarṇaṃ vā vastrāṇy ābharaṇāni ca | avibhaktāni sādhūnām avagacchanti sādhavaḥ ||

Silver or gold, garments and ornaments—true friends understand that among the virtuous such possessions are not divided as ‘mine’ and ‘yours’.

'Good friends consider(valuables such as) silver or gold, clothes or ornaments of worldly wealth indivisible.

Dharma is expressed as non-possessiveness and shared trust: among the righteous, material goods do not become a cause for division; friendship overrides private claim.

Sugrīva continues to define the norms of noble friendship while building confidence in his bond with Rāma.

Tyāga (generosity) and sādhutva (uprightness), shown in treating wealth as secondary to relationship.
