Shloka 4.7.7

काकुत्स्थस्य शोकनिग्रहः—सुग्रीवसान्त्वनम् (Rama’s Grief Restrained—Sugriva’s Consolation)

नाहं तामनुशोचामि प्राकृतो वानरोऽपि सन्।महात्मा च विनीतश्च किं पुनर्धृतिमान्भवान्।।

bāṣpam āpatitaṃ dhairyān nigrahītuṃ tvam arhasi | maryādāṃ sattvayuktānāṃ dhṛtiṃ notsraṣṭum arhasi ||

You should restrain these falling tears with fortitude. Those endowed with inner strength must not forsake their dignity and steadfastness.

'I am an ordinary monkey born. Even then, I do not brood over my wife. You are high-souled, humble and patient. Why do you grieve?

Dharma as maryādā (moral dignity): even intense emotion should be governed so righteous action remains possible.

Sugrīva directly urges Rāma to check his tears and preserve composure.

Dhṛti (steadfastness) supported by dhairya—strength expressed as controlled emotion.
