Shloka 4.7.25
काकुत्स्थस्य शोकनिग्रहः—सुग्रीवसान्त्वनम् (Rama’s Grief Restrained—Sugriva’s Consolation)
महानुभावस्य वचो निशम्यहरिर्नृपाणामृषभस्य तस्य।कृतं स मेने हरिवीरमुख्यस्तदा स्वकार्यं हृदयेन विद्वान्।।
satyaṃ te pratijānāmi tyaja śokam arindama | kariṣyāmi tathā yatnaṃ yathā prāpsyasi maithilīm ||
“O subduer of enemies, abandon your grief. I give you my true pledge: I will exert such effort that you will regain Maithilī.”
Wise Sugriva, chief of monkeys, heard the words of the magnanimous Rama, a bullamong men. He felt glad at heart thinking that his task has been achieved.ityārṣē śrīmadrāmāyaṇē vālmīkīya ādikāvyē kiṣkindhākāṇḍē saptamassargaḥ৷৷Thus ends the seventh sarga of Kishkindakanda of the Holy Ramayana, the first epic composed by the sage Valmiki.
Satya (truthfulness) expressed as a binding pledge: Sugrīva upholds dharma by making a sincere promise and committing to action rather than mere consolation.
After forming alliance with Rāma, Sugrīva reassures him and vows to help recover Sītā (Maithilī).
Reliability and truthfulness—Sugrīva presents himself as a trustworthy ally who will act decisively.
