काकुत्स्थस्य शोकनिग्रहः—सुग्रीवसान्त्वनम् (Rama’s Grief Restrained—Sugriva’s Consolation)
मया च यदिदं वाक्यमभिमानात्समीरितम्।तत्त्वया हरिशार्दूल तत्त्वमित्युपधार्यताम्।।
mayā ca yad idaṃ vākyam abhimānāt samīritam | tattvayā hariśārdūla tattvam iti upadhāryatām ||
And whatever words I spoke out of wounded pride—O tiger among monkeys—please understand them in their true intent.
'O tiger amongst monkeys! accept my words uttered out of injured honour in their true sense.
Dharma includes accountability for speech: even when pride distorts expression, one should clarify intent and restore truthful understanding (satya of meaning).
Rāma asks Sugrīva to interpret any pride-driven statements charitably and according to their real purpose, preserving harmony in their alliance.
Rāma’s self-correction and reconciliation—he prioritizes relationship and truth over ego.
