काकुत्स्थस्य शोकनिग्रहः—सुग्रीवसान्त्वनम् (Rama’s Grief Restrained—Sugriva’s Consolation)
एष च प्रकृतिस्थोऽहमनुनीतस्त्वया सखे।दुर्लभो हीदृशो बन्धुरस्मिन्काले विशेषतः।।
eṣa ca prakṛtisthaḥ aham anunītaḥ tvayā sakhe | durlabhaḥ hīdṛśaḥ bandhuḥ asmin kāle viśeṣataḥ ||
“Friend, guided by you, I have returned to myself. Indeed, a companion like this is hard to find—especially in times like these.”
'O friend! you have guided me back to my senses thus. It is difficult to find a friend like you specially at this time.
The dharma of loyal companionship: in crisis, steadfast support and wise counsel are rare and therefore especially valuable.
Rāma acknowledges that Sugrīva’s counsel has restored his composure and recognizes the rarity of such friendship.
Sugrīva’s dependability as an ally; Rāma’s discernment in valuing virtue over mere advantage.
