हनूमद्विक्रम-प्रशंसा तथा महेन्द्रारोहणम् (Hanuman’s Self-Assertion of Power and Ascent of Mount Mahendra)
मारुतस्य समो वेगे गरुडस्य समो जवे।अयुतं योजनानां तु गमिष्यामीति मे मतिः।।4.67.28।।
mārutasya samo vege garuḍasya samo jave | ayutaṃ yojanānāṃ tu gamiṣyāmīti me matiḥ || 4.67.28 ||
In speed I am the equal of the Wind-god, and in swiftness the equal of Garuḍa; I believe I can traverse ten thousand yojanas.
'I am equal to Maruta and Garuda in speed. I feel I can cover ten thousand yojanas (at a stretch).
Dharma is competence offered in service: Hanuman measures and declares his capacity so the mission proceeds without doubt or delay.
Hanuman states his speed and range to convince the group that the ocean-crossing is feasible.
Sāmarthya (capability) with accountability: he asserts ability as a responsible leader would, to secure collective confidence.
