अङ्गदोपदेशः समुद्रदर्शन-विषादश्च (Angada’s Counsel and the Vanaras’ Despondency at the Ocean)
क इदानीं महातेजा लङ्घयिष्यति सागरम्।कः करिष्यति सुग्रीवं सत्यसन्धमरिन्दमम्।।।।
tatas tān harivṛddhāṃś ca tac ca sainyam arindamaḥ | anumānyāṅgadaś śrīmān vākyam arthavad abravīt ||
Then the illustrious Aṅgada—subduer of foes—having won the confidence of the elder vānara leaders and the host, spoke words full of purpose.
'Now which mighty monkey will cross the ocean? Who will prove Sugriva, subduer of enemies, true to his promise?
Ethical leadership through consent and clarity: a dharmic leader aligns elders and followers, then speaks with purposeful truth aimed at the common good.
Immediately before Aṅgada’s address, he consolidates support among seniors and troops to prevent disorder and to direct the mission forward.
Nīti (sound policy) and persuasive responsibility: Aṅgada unifies the group before proposing a decisive course.
