संपाति-उपदेशः / Sampati Instructed and the Search Mission Foretold
सर्वथा हि नगन्तव्यमीदृशः क्व गमिष्यसि।देशकालौ प्रतीक्षस्व पक्षौ त्वं प्रतिपत्स्यसे4.62.12।।
sarvathā hi na gantavyam īdṛśaḥ kva gamiṣyasi |
deśakālau pratīkṣasva pakṣau tvaṃ pratipatsyase ||
By all means do not depart in this condition—where could you go? Wait for the proper place and time; your wings will be restored to you.
'It is good for you in all respects to remain here. Where can you go (without wings)? Wait for appropriate time and place. You will recover your wings'.
Dharma includes prudent restraint: acting according to deśa-kāla (place and time) rather than rash impulse, and cultivating patient endurance.
The sage advises the wingless Sampāti not to wander helplessly, but to wait until conditions change and his wings are restored.
Kṣamā and dhṛti—patience and fortitude—waiting for the right moment instead of forcing action when incapable.
