अङ्गद-उपदेशः — Hanuman’s Counsel to Angada on Succession and Strategy
स चतुर्णामुपायानां तृतीयमुपवर्णयन्।भेदयामास तान्सर्वान् वानरान्वाक्यसम्पदा।।।।
tvaṁ samarthataraḥ pitrā yuddhe tāreya vai dhuram |
dṛḍhaṁ dhārayituṁ śaktaḥ kapirājyaṁ yathā pitā ||
O son of Tārā, in battle you are even more capable than your father; you can firmly bear the yoke of the vānaras’ kingdom, just as your father once did.
Resorting to the third strategy out of the four ways of achieving an objective Hanuman created differences among the monkeys with skilful arguments. (Sama, Dana, Bheda and Danda are the four means. Hanuman adopted Bheda as a means of winning over an enemy).
Dharma of leadership: capability and steadiness are required to carry the burden of rule; rightful governance should rest on strength joined with responsibility.
Hanumān motivates Angada by affirming his competence and suitability to uphold the kingdom’s responsibility.
Angada’s vīrya (valor) and dhairya (steadfastness), presented as qualifications for rajadharma.
