सुग्रीवस्य शतवलि-प्रेषणम् (Sugriva’s Commission to Satavali for the Northern Search)
एतावद्वानरैश्शक्यं गन्तुं वानरपुङ्गवाः।अभास्करममर्यादं न जानीमस्ततः परम्।।।।
ayaṃ hi sarvabhūtānāṃ mānyaḥ tu narasattamaḥ | asmāsu ca āgataḥ prītiḥ rāmaḥ parapurañjayaḥ ||
This Rāma—best among men, conqueror of enemy strongholds—is worthy of honor from all beings; and toward us as well he has shown affection and grace.
'O monkey leaders! it is not possible for monkeys to go beyond. The Sun does not shine beyond that place and it is not visible. We do not know what lies beyond that (Somagiri).
Honoring the truly virtuous and responding to goodwill with loyalty is upheld as righteous social and political conduct.
Sugrīva legitimizes the urgency of helping Rāma by affirming Rāma’s universally revered status and his friendship toward the vānara allies.
Rāma’s nobility and benevolence, which inspire reciprocal loyalty and service.
