उद्योगप्रवर्तनम् (Mobilization and Counsel on Kingship)
स लक्ष्मणो भीमबलं सर्ववानरसत्तमम्।अब्रवीत्प्रश्रितं वाक्यं सुग्रीवं सम्प्रहर्षयन्।।4.38.3।।किष्किन्धाया विनिष्क्राम यदि ते सौम्य रोचते।
sa lakṣmaṇo bhīmabalaṃ sarvavānarasattamam |
abravīt praśritaṃ vākyaṃ sugrīvaṃ sampraharṣayan || 4.38.3 ||
kiṣkindhāyā viniṣkrāma yadi te saumya rocate |
Lakṣmaṇa, of formidable strength, addressed Sugrīva—the foremost among the vānaras—with humble words, gladdening him: “O gentle one, if it pleases you, depart from Kiṣkindhā.”
Cheering Sugriva, the foremost among the monkeys, the mighty Lakshmana said in a humble way: 'O good-natured Sugriva! if you would like to come to Rama let us depart from Kishkinda.
Even while urging action, Lakṣmaṇa speaks with praśraya (humble respect), showing that dharma includes disciplined, courteous conduct—especially when addressing an ally-king like Sugrīva.
Lakṣmaṇa’s respectful summons implies accountability to spoken commitments: Sugrīva is being reminded to act in accordance with the truthful promise of alliance and assistance to Rāma.
