प्रस्रवणगिरिवासवर्णनम् (Residence on Mount Prasravana; Counsel during the Rains)
उपकारेण वीरस्तु प्रतीकारेण युज्यते।अकृतज्ञोऽप्रतिकृतो हन्ति सत्त्ववतां मनः4.27.45।।
eṣa śokaḥ parityaktaḥ sarvakāryāvasādakaḥ |
vikrameṣv apratihataṃ tejaḥ protsāhayāmy aham || 4.27.43 ||
This grief—so ruinous that it weakens every undertaking—I now cast aside. In deeds of valour I will rouse within myself an energy that cannot be checked.
Dharma requires mastery over debilitating sorrow so that one can act rightly and effectively. Rāma frames grief as something that must not be allowed to destroy duty-driven action.
Rāma, encouraged by Lakṣmaṇa, resolves to stop yielding to grief and to rekindle his heroic resolve for the coming struggle.
Fortitude (dhairya) and disciplined courage—energy directed toward righteous action rather than overwhelmed by emotion.
