प्रस्रवणगिरिवासवर्णनम् (Residence on Mount Prasravana; Counsel during the Rains)
शरत्कालं प्रतीक्षिष्ये स्थितोऽस्मि वचने तव।सुग्रीवस्य नदीनां च प्रसादमनुपालयन्4.27.44।।
vācyaṃ yad anuraktena snigdhena ca hitena ca |
satyavikramayuktena tad uktaṃ lakṣmaṇa tvayā || 4.27.42 ||
Lakṣmaṇa, what you have spoken is exactly what ought to be spoken—words of one devoted and affectionate, a true well-wisher, and endowed with valour steadfast in truth.
'I will wait for autumn. I will stick to your advice while I wait until Sugriva and the rivers are pleased (with moderate flow of water.)
Dharma values truthful courage (satya-vikrama) joined with goodwill: advice should be both honest and benevolent, arising from devotion and care rather than self-interest.
Rāma responds to Lakṣmaṇa’s counsel, affirming that it is appropriate and comes from genuine loyalty and proven bravery.
Lakṣmaṇa’s loyal, truth-aligned courage; and Rāma’s discernment in recognizing and validating righteous advice.
