Shloka 4.27.40

प्रस्रवणगिरिवासवर्णनम् (Residence on Mount Prasravana; Counsel during the Rains)

अहं तु खलु ते वीर्यं प्रसुप्तं प्रतिबोधये।दीप्सैराहुतिभिः काले भस्मच्छन्नमिवानलम्4.27.40।।

ahaṃ tu khalu te vīryaṃ prasuptaṃ pratibodhaye | dīpsair āhutibhiḥ kāle bhasmacchannam ivānalam || 4.27.40 ||

I, for my part, shall awaken your slumbering valor—like a fire hidden beneath ashes, kindled in due time by offerings placed upon it.

'I am only awakening your dormant valour as one would kindle the fire covered with ashes by making offerings.'

Dharma includes the duty to correct and strengthen the righteous when they falter; truthful counsel can rekindle moral energy for rightful action.

Lakṣmaṇa explains that his sharp encouragement is meant to awaken Rāma’s sleeping strength, not to wound him.
