Shloka 4.27.22
प्रस्रवणगिरिवासवर्णनम् (Residence on Mount Prasravana; Counsel during the Rains)
क्वचिन्नीलोत्पलैश्छन्ना भाति रक्तोत्पलैः क्वचित्।क्वचिदाभाति शुक्लैश्च दिव्यैः कुमुदकुट्मलैः4.27.22।।
kvacinnīlotpalaiśchannā bhāti raktotpalaiḥ kvacit | kvacidābhāti śuklaiśca divyaiḥ kumudakuṭmalaiḥ ||
In some places it is covered with blue lotuses; in others it shines with red lotuses; and elsewhere it appears radiant with divine white water-lily buds.
'The river looks wonderful with lotuses now blue, now red and now white.
This verse is part of Rama's description of the rainy season (Varsha Ritu) to Lakshmana while they reside on the Prasravana Mountain, waiting for the rains to cease to begin the search for Sita.
Valmiki uses the imagery of a multi-colored tapestry, describing the water as being adorned with blue, red, and white lotuses and lily buds, highlighting the vibrant explosion of life during the monsoon.
