ताराशोकविनोदनम् (Consolation of Tara and Counsel on Succession)
यस्मिन्हरिसहस्राणि प्रयुतान्यर्बुदानि च।वर्तयन्ति कृतांशानि सोऽयं दिष्टान्तमागतः।।
yasmin hari-sahasrāṇi prayutāny arbudāni ca | vartayanti kṛtāṃśāni so ’yaṃ diṣṭāntam āgataḥ ||
He upon whom thousands of monkeys—indeed millions and tens of millions—depended, setting their hopes upon him, has now reached his destined end, to reap the fruits of his own deeds.
'Tens of millions of monkeys depended on this hero with their hopes on him. He has reached his ultimate destiny now to enjoy the fruits of his good deeds.
Acceptance of destiny and karma-phala: even the most relied-upon leader must meet an appointed end, and one should reflect on deeds and their results rather than be consumed by grief.
After Vāli is mortally wounded, Tārā is being consoled and guided to face the reality of succession and the community’s dependence on righteous order.
Steadiness in adversity (dhairya) and discernment (viveka): the speaker frames death as a destined transition tied to one’s actions.
