पम्पा-तीर-वर्णनम् / Rama’s Lament at Pampa and the Approach to Rishyamuka

इमानि शुभगन्धीनि पश्य लक्ष्मण सर्वशः।नलिनानि प्रकाशन्ते जले तरुणसूर्यवत्।।।।

imāni śubhagandhīni paśya lakṣmaṇa sarvaśaḥ | nalināni prakāśante jale taruṇasūryavat ||

O Lakṣmaṇa, look all around: these sweet-fragrant lotuses gleam upon the water like the newly risen sun.

'O Lakshmana! look at these lotuses with fine fragrance all over the water glowing like the rising Sun.

Dharma here is refinement of vision: learning to recognize purity and order in nature, which steadies the mind and supports righteous action even during hardship.

As they move along Pampā in search of Sītā, Rāma draws Lakṣmaṇa’s attention to the lotuses and the lake’s beauty.

Rāma’s capacity for aesthetic discernment and gentle instruction—he remains observant and communicative despite personal sorrow.
