Shloka 1.66.12

शिवधनुर्न्यासकथा तथा सीतोत्पत्तिविवाहशुल्क-निश्चयः (The Bow of Śiva: Its Deposit, Sītā’s Origin, and the Prowess-Brideprice Vow)

प्रीतियुक्तस्स सर्वेषां ददौ तेषां महात्मनाम्।तदेतद्देवदेवस्य धनूरत्नं महात्मन:। न्यासभूतं तदा न्यस्तमस्माकं पूर्व के विभो।।1.66.12।।

tato vimanasas sarve devā vai munipuṅgava |

prasādayanti deveśaṁ teṣāṁ prīto 'bhavad bhavaḥ ||1.66.11||

Then, O best of sages, all the gods—downcast at heart—propitiated the Lord of the gods, Bhava (Śiva), and he became pleased with them.

O Lord! that gem of a bow belonging to Siva was given to the great gods who in turn got it deposited in trust with our ancestor.

When overwhelmed, one returns to dharma through humility and right approach—seeking reconciliation and grace rather than acting from despair or arrogance.

Janaka recounts a prior divine episode: the gods, troubled, approach Śiva and win his favour.

The gods’ humility and readiness to seek forgiveness/aid through proper supplication.
