अहल्याशापमोक्षः — The Release of Ahalya and Indra’s Restoration
अफलोऽस्मि कृतस्तेन क्रोधात्सा च निराकृता।शापमोक्षेण महता तपोऽस्यापहृतं मया।।।।
sādhu sādhv iti devās tām ahalyāṃ samapūjayan |
tapo-bala-viśuddhāṅgī gautamasya vaśānugām ||
The gods honored Ahalya, crying, “Sādhu! Sādhu!”—she whose body was purified by the power of tapas, and who now stood in accord with Gautama’s authority and command.
'By his (Gautama's) wrath I have been deprived of my testicles. She (Ahalya) has been deserted by him. He has lost his ascetic energy through the pronouncement of this great curse'.
Dharma includes the possibility of moral restoration: sincere penance purifies, and reintegration into rightful order (obedience to just instruction) is publicly affirmed.
The gods celebrate Ahalya’s purified state and honor her after the completion of her penance and the fulfillment of Gautama’s condition.
Ahalya’s endurance and self-purification through tapas—steadfastness in accepting consequences and seeking inner renewal.
