सुचन्द्रतनयो राम धूम्राश्व इति विश्रुत:।धूम्राश्वतनयश्चापि सञ्जयस्समपद्यत।।।।
sucandratanayo rāma dhūmrāśva iti viśrutaḥ | dhūmrāśvatanayaś cāpi sañjayaḥ samapadyata ||
O Rāma, Sucandra’s son was famed as Dhūmrāśva; and Dhūmrāśva too had a son—Sañjaya—who was born into that line.
O Rama! son of Suchandra was Dhumraswa, well-known Sanjaya was the son of Dhumraswa.
Dharma is framed as continuity: the legitimacy of rule and social order is preserved through recognized descent and succession.
The sage continues the dynastic list, connecting successive rulers of Vaiśālī for Rāma’s understanding of the region they have reached.
Fame (viśruti) rooted in rightful station—reputation is tied to one’s place and duties within an ordered tradition.
