दितेर्गर्भभङ्गो मरुत्प्रतिष्ठा च (Diti’s Severed Embryo and the स्थापना of the Maruts; Viśālā-nagara Lineage)

विशालस्य सुतो राम हेमचन्द्रो महाबल:।सुचन्द्र इति विख्यात: हेमचन्द्रादनन्तर:।।।।

viśālasya suto rāma hemacandro mahābalaḥ | sucandra iti vikhyātaḥ hemacandrādanantaraḥ ||

O Rāma, mighty Hemacandra was the son of Viśāla; and after Hemacandra, his successor was the renowned Sucandra.

O Rama! mighty Hemachandra was Vishala's son. Hemachandra's successor was the celebrated Suchandra.

The verse upholds rājadharma through orderly succession: a stable lineage implies continuity of lawful rule and responsibility, rather than arbitrary power.

Viśvāmitra is recounting the royal genealogy of Vaiśālī to Rāma while traveling, situating the city and its rulers within the Ikṣvāku-linked tradition.

Legitimacy and steadiness in kingship—renown comes from rightful succession and the maintenance of established order.
