Shloka 1.41.13

अंशुमान्—अश्वान्वेषणम्, दिशागजसंवादः, कपिलदाहवृत्तान्तः, गङ्गोपदेशः (Anshuman’s Search for the Horse and the Counsel to Bring Ganga)

स दु:खवशमापन्नस्त्वसमञ्जसुतस्तदा।चुक्रोश परमार्तस्तु वधात्तेषां सुदु:खित:।।।।

sa duḥkhavaśam āpannas tv asamañjasutaḥ tadā | cukrośa paramārtaḥ tu vadhāt teṣāṁ suduḥkhitaḥ ||

Then Anśumān, son of Asamañjasa, overcome by grief and intensely distressed by their slaughter, cried out in deep sorrow.

Then the son of Asamanjasa, overwhelmed with sorrow and deeply distressed at their destruction, bewailed with great grief.

Dharma includes compassion and proper mourning: acknowledging loss truthfully (satya) and feeling righteous sorrow for kin restrains cruelty and re-centers the heart toward humane conduct.

Upon seeing the ashes of his uncles, Anśumān is overwhelmed and laments their death.

Compassionate sensitivity—he is not indifferent to death, even amid a mission; his grief reflects moral awareness.
