सिद्धाश्रम-यज्ञरक्षणम् — Protection of Viśvāmitra’s Sacrifice at Siddhāśrama
अद्यप्रभृति षड्रात्रं रक्षतं राघवौ युवाम्।दीक्षां गतो ह्येष मुनिर्मौनित्वं च गमिष्यति।।।।
adyaprabhṛti ṣaḍrātraṃ rakṣataṃ rāghavau yuvām | dīkṣāṃ gato hyeṣa munir maunitvaṃ ca gamiṣyati ||
From this day onward, you two Rāghavas must guard the rite for six nights; for this sage has entered consecration (dīkṣā) and will also observe the vow of silence.
"O sons of Raghu's lineage protect the sacrifice for six nights from to-day. With the ceremoney initiated, the sage would observe silence said the inmates".
Dharma is cooperative responsibility: when a spiritual leader undertakes vows (dīkṣā, mauna), protectors must shoulder the external defense so the rite remains unbroken.
The āśrama community instructs the princes to guard the sacrifice for six nights because Viśvāmitra will be in consecration and silence.
Reliability in service—Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa are entrusted with sustained vigilance over time, not a single heroic moment.
