सिद्धाश्रम-प्रसङ्गः (Siddhashrama and the Vāmana Narrative)
ये चैनमभिवर्तन्ते याचितार इतस्तत:।यच्च यत्र यथावच्च सर्वं तेभ्य: प्रयच्छति।।1.29.8।।
ye cainam abhivartante yācitāra itas tataḥ |
yac ca yatra yathāvac ca sarvaṃ tebhyaḥ prayacchati ||1.29.8||
And those who approach him as petitioners from here and there—whatever they ask, wherever it be, and in a proper manner—he grants it all to them.
'He is granting the seekers whatever, wherever and in whichever maner they, coming from here and there approach him for favour'.
Dharma is linked with dāna and reliability: a ruler’s righteousness is partly measured by openness to supplicants and consistency in granting what is properly requested.
The devas describe Bali’s defining trait—his unbounded generosity to petitioners—explaining why intervention must be carefully framed.
Generosity (dāna) and implied truthfulness in giving—Bali is portrayed as one who does not turn away supplicants.
