Shloka 1.29.4

सिद्धाश्रम-प्रसङ्गः (Siddhashrama and the Vāmana Narrative)

एतस्मिन्नेव काले तु राजा वैरोचनिर्बलि:।।1.29.4।।निर्जित्य दैवतगणान् सेन्द्रांश्च समरुद्गणान्। कारयामास तद्राज्यं त्रिषु लोकेषु विश्रुत:।।1.29.5।।

spṛṣṭodakau śucī japyaṃ samāpya niyamena ca |

hutāgnihotram āsīnaṃ viśvāmitram avandatām ||1.29.32||

Having ritually touched water and purified themselves, and having completed their recitations according to rule, they paid homage to Viśvāmitra, who sat tending the sacred agnihotra fire-rite.

"During the period Visnu (in the incarnation of Vamana) was observing austerities at this hermitage, king Bali, son of Virochana, having vanquished Indra and maruts and devatas ruled this kingdom and became famous in all the three worlds (for his prowess and generosity.)

Dharma here is reverence joined to discipline: purity of conduct (śauca), rule-governed practice (niyama), and respectful homage to the teacher-sage uphold the moral order.

After completing morning purifications and prayers, the princes approach Viśvāmitra and salute him as he sits by the consecrated fire-rite.

Humility and guru-respect (ācārya-vandana), along with careful observance of ritual propriety.
