Shloka 1.27.22

अस्त्रप्रदानम् — Bestowal of Divine Astras to Rama

सर्वसङ्ग्रहणं येषां दैवतैरपि दुर्लभम्।तान्यस्त्राणि तदा विप्रो राघवाय न्यवेदयत्।।।।

sarvasaṅgrahaṇaṃ yeṣāṃ daivatair api durlabham |

tāny astrāṇi tadā vipro rāghavāya nyavedayat ||

Those weapons whose full acquisition is difficult even for the gods—those astras the sage then presented and made known to Rāghava.

The sage offered Rama the complete collection of those weapons which even the celestials find it difficult to acquire.

Extraordinary authority is justified only by worthiness and right purpose; dharma implies that rare power is entrusted for protection and justice, not for pride.

The narrator underscores the exceptional status of the astras and the significance of Viśvāmitra giving them to Rāma.

Rāma’s exceptional eligibility (adhikāra): he is portrayed as fit to bear what even gods find difficult to obtain.
