O Rāghava, I grant you the beloved Gāndharva weapon called Mānava by name—effective for inducing sleep and for dispelling it—and also the Saura weapon.

Rama, I shall grant two much favoured weapons namely gandharvaastras, manava astra, which induce and suppress sleep and sauraastra as well.

Dharma includes proportional response: weapons that can restrain (sleep) as well as release (remove sleep) point to controlled, humane application of power.

Viśvāmitra grants astras with special functions, including those connected with enchantment/restraint and solar brilliance.

Discernment in force: Rāma is prepared to choose restraint over destruction when dharma permits.
