ताटकावृत्तान्तः — The Account of Tāṭakā and the Royal Duty to Protect
अल्पवीर्या यदा यक्षा श्श्रूयन्ते मुनिपुङ्गव।कथन्नागसहस्रस्य धारयत्यबला बलम्।।।।
viṣṇunāpi purā rāma bhṛgu-patnī dṛḍha-vratā | anindraṃ lokam icchantī kāvya-mātā niṣūditā ||
And even by Viṣṇu, O Rāma, in ancient times the resolute wife of Bhṛgu—Kāvya’s mother—was slain when she sought a world without Indra.
"O best of ascetics, I have heard the yakshas possess little prowess. How can a woman who is by gender weak possess the strength of a thousand elephants?
Dharma includes preserving cosmic and social order; even revered figures may be opposed when their resolve threatens that order.
Viśvāmitra adds another traditional precedent to justify strong action against a dangerous female adversary.
Upholding order (dharma-sthiti) over partiality or sentiment.
