Tell me what purpose you desire in coming here. I wish—counting myself favored—to help bring about your intended aim.
Be pleased to tell me the purpose of your visit. I desire to be given the privilege ofdoing service to achieve your object.
A ruler’s dharma includes active support of righteous missions; Daśaratha frames service to a sage’s dharmic goal as a privilege.
Daśaratha invites Viśvāmitra to state the reason for his visit and offers assistance.
Eagerness to serve and moral responsibility—Daśaratha offers help without bargaining.
