Shloka 1.18.19

पुत्रजन्मोत्सवः — Birth of the Princes and Viśvāmitra’s Arrival (Bālakāṇḍa 18)

प्रदेयांश्च ददौ राजा सूतमागधवन्दिनाम्।ब्राह्मणेभ्यो ददौ वित्तं गोधनानि सहस्रश:।।।।

rathyāś ca janasambādhā naṭanartakasaṅkulāḥ |

gāyanaiś ca virāviṇyo vādanaiś ca tathā ’paraiḥ ||

The streets were packed with people, crowded with actors and dancers, and resounded with singers, instrumental music, and other performers.

The king distributed deserving gifts to priests, euologists and genealogists. He gavebrahmins in charity thousands of cows and other valuables.
