अश्वमेधप्रवृत्तिः — Commencement and Performance of Daśaratha’s Aśvamedha
अभिपूज्य ततो हृष्टास्सर्वे चक्रुर्यथाविधि।प्रातस्सवनपूर्वाणि कर्माणि मुनिपुङ्गवा:।।।।
abhipūjya tato hṛṣṭāḥ sarve cakruḥ yathāvidhi | prātaḥsavanapūrvāṇi karmāṇi munipuṅgavāḥ || 1.14.5 ||
Then, having duly worshipped, all those foremost sages—gladdened at heart—performed, as prescribed, the rites beginning with the morning soma-pressing and its preliminaries.
Thereafter the eminent ascetics, rejoicing in their hearts performed the worship (of celestial beings) and conducted the prescribed rituals starting with morning ablutions etc.
Dharma is ‘yathāvidhi’—doing what must be done in the right way: sacred duties gain meaning through correct procedure, sincerity, and reverent worship.
The officiating sages begin the day’s sacrificial sequence with the morning savana-related rites after proper worship.
Ritual integrity and disciplined joy—performing duty with both precision and inner gladness.
