श्रीमद्रामायणकथासङ्क्षेपः / The Ramayana in Synopsis (Narada’s Summary to Valmiki)

वार्यमाणस्सुबहुशो मारीचेन स रावणः ।।।।न विरोधो बलवता क्षमो रावण तेन ते ।

anādṛtya tu tadvākyaṃ rāvaṇaḥ kālacoditaḥ | jagāma saha mārīcas tasyāśramapadaṃ tadā || 1.1.51 ||

But disregarding those words, Rāvaṇa—driven on by fate—set out then with Mārīca toward Rāma’s hermitage.

Maricha repeatedly dissuaded him saying, 'O Ravana! It is not proper for you to enter into hostility with the mighty and powerful Rama'.

Even when destiny is invoked, the ethical warning is about choice: ignoring good counsel is a voluntary step away from dharma.

Rāvaṇa rejects Mārīca’s warning and proceeds with him to the hermitage, preparing the deception that leads to Sītā’s abduction.

Negatively, obstinacy—refusal to heed truth—showing how adharma advances through conscious disregard.
