पम्पादर्शनम् — Vision of Lake Pampā and the Turn toward Sugrīva
हरेः ऋक्षरजोनाम्नः पुत्रस्तस्य महात्मनः।अध्यास्ते तं महावीर्यस्सुग्रीव इति विश्रुतः।।3.75.26।।
hareḥ ṛkṣarajonāmnaḥ putrastasya mahātmanaḥ | adhyāste taṃ mahāvīryassugrīva iti viśrutaḥ ||
There dwells Sugriva, famed far and wide, the mighty son of the great-souled one named Riksharajas.
The mighty son of Riksharaja, the great soul, the Sun whose son was the well-known Sugriva, resides on this mountain.
The verse explicitly identifies Sugriva as the son of the great-souled Riksharajas.
Kabandha is guiding Rama to form an alliance with Sugriva, a crucial step in the Dharma of recovering Sita and fulfilling the narrative purpose.
